Notables from the Week

Childress nearing extension?

  • Though the Vikings are yet to confirm it, there continues to be speculation from multiple sources that the team is working on a contract extension for head coach Brad Childress. Childress has improved the team's win-loss record by two games each season in his first three seasons. He's currently on the 4th year of his 5 year contract.

Rice named NFC Offensive Player of the Week

  • Sidney Rice became just the fourth Vikings WR to be named NFC Offensive Player of the Week in franchise history. He joins Anthony Carter, Randy Moss, and Cris Carter in that honor. He fell just ten yards shy of the franchise record for receiving yards in a regular season game.

Winfield to Return?

  • Antoine Winfield was given the green light to fully participate in practice this week and says he feels about 85% this week as opposed to 50% last week. He should be ready to go against the Seahawks at least in some capacity.

Henderson named Vikings Community Man of the Year

  • Congratulations to linebacker EJ Henderson for being named the Vikings Community Man of the Year for the 2009 season.
